Step 1: Choose Who to Help

Kids can start by thinking about what matters most to them. Do they want to help:

  • People in their community, like neighbors, classmates or those in need?
  • Animals, such as pets in shelters or wildlife in your area?
  • The environment, by keeping parks clean or planting trees?

Have them write down their answer in the "Who Do You Want to Help?" section of the printable. This will give them a clear goal to focus on!

Step 2: Pick How to Help

Next, look at the different ways to help on the printable and mark the ones that excite your kid the most. Here are some examples:

  • Volunteer your time by helping at an animal shelter or assisting at a food bank.
  • Raise awareness by making posters or sharing information online.
  • Collect donations by organizing a food, clothing, or toy drive.

If they have their own creative idea, write it in the "Other Ideas" section!

Step 3: Find Someone Who Can Help Them

Making a difference is easier with support! Think about a teacher, parent or community leader who can help your kid bring their idea to life. Write their name in the "Who Can Help You?" section.

Kids don’t have to do it alone—asking for advice and teamwork makes their impact even bigger!

Step 4: Make a Plan

Now, it’s time to act! In the "How Will You Begin?" section, write down three simple steps to start their project. For example:

  1. Talk to a parent or teacher about your idea.
  2. Gather supplies or create a list of what you need.
  3. Set a date to start your project.

Taking small steps will help build momentum and reach their goal!

Step 5: Capture Their Impact

At the bottom of the printable, there’s a space to tape a photo or draw a picture of your kid helping others. This is a great way to celebrate their hard work and remember how awesome it feels to make a difference!
